FBE Coated Bolted Steel Tank Plates
Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coated steel bolted panel tanks have been successfully utilized throughout the globe for many decades in the storage of potable, process and waste waters. FBE is a factory applied, thermoset polymer coating, bonded to the steel substrate at 200°C, creating a strong & flexible coating. FBE provides high durability to impact, low cost manufacturing, low carbon footprint and efficient design principles.
FBE tanks are tested to stringent standards and meet, exceed or provide comparable performance against a wide range of internationally recognised coating requirements.
Being a factory applied coating, in a controlled environment, there is no risk for inconsistent quality or poor adhesion issues, as is commonly encountered with field applied coatings. Northpoint Ltd’s range of FBE’s are available in 2 coating specifications (dip applied and spray applied), providing coating thicknesses range from 180µm to 400µm. FBE tanks are also extensively used for Anaerobic Digesters & the storage of demineralized water. In consultation with the designers, Northpoint Ltd will select the optimal coating to suit your application, based on performance criteria & water quality data as provided by you, the client.
In support of those companies who need the additional documentation to support your claim for drinking water approval Northpoint Ltd has applied for and gained Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) Approval for its Resicoat R4 Aqua/Green FBE for use in contact with water when applied to bolted steel tank plates. The approval reference is DWI 56.4.659 and can be looked up on the DWI Register of Approved Materials see DWI B.1.9 for reference.
Applications for FBE Coated Tanks include:
- Potable Water Storage
- Agricultural Waste
- Municipal Water
Benefits of FBE include:
- Highly Corrosion Resistant
- Durable – Northpoint’s FBE Coatings come with a design life of up to 60 years
- Can be externally coated in your choice of colour
