Sector/Industry: Drinking Water Facility, NSW, Australia

Business Unit: Pipe Coating

The customer was looking for a coating system that would meet the requirements of the AS/NZS 4158: 2003 for an export contract destined for New South Wales, Australia.

The strict, specific requirements were for the corrosion protection coating of their steel parts to be used in a drinking water facility. Due to the related health and safety regulations, it was essential that the coatings applied met the local potable drinking water standards.

Northpoint completed a detailed bid for the work to ensure all regulations and safety standards would be met in appliance with the customer’s specific requirements and recommended the Resicoat R4-ES, blue ca, RAL 5017 GL coating system. With decades of experience in the coating of water supply pipes, the coating service provided met a range of internationally recognised standards for coatings that come into contact with potable drinking water.

Northpoint put together a technical document package that was forwarded to the end client in Australia and approval was granted for the parts to be coated. The technical challenge lay not in the coating application but in the research necessary to offer a solution that met with the very specific demands of the customer.
