Fence Coatings

Polyester Powder - Colour Coatings for Galvanised Steel

Northpoint Ltd offer a range of long-term colour coating solutions for galvanised steel components such as fencing, street furniture, hand rails, lighting columns and playground equipment, in fact most steel surfaces where a long-term exterior performance is required.

Available in a wide range of colours (64 standard colours - see our colours page) the finish is hard, durable and vandal resistant making it suitable for use in areas of high public contact.

Northpoint's plant is capable of coating items up to 12 metres long and 3 metres high making the coating of large two dimensional components both practical and economically attractive.

Northpoint can offer a menu of options from which customers can pick to tailor make the service package they need.

Services include stocking of part finished product prior to coating application, order picking from stocks held, stock-holding updates, production planning updates, packing to customer specifications, national collection and distribution services, as well as after sales care including document packages and warranties.

Fencecoat 25 - Northpoint's Standard Coating

Fencecoat 25 is a high performance architectural grade polyester resin powder coating which offers a manufactures 10 year warranty (subject to terms and conditions).

This coating system is appropriate for almost all exterior applications and comes in a very wide range of colours with an expectation that where maintained properly it will provide up to 25 years service.

Fencecoat 25 meets or exceeds the requirements of BS 1722 Pt 16 1992.

Interpon D - Northpoint's Superior Standard Coating

Interpon D is an Akzo Nobel branded product developed for use by approved applicators only who have proved through testing that they can meet or exceed the requirements of BS EN 13438 : 2005.

This tool is an architectural grade polyester resin powder coating but offers a 25 year manufactures warranty (subject to terms and conditions). The Interpon D coatings used by Northpoint have been tested and approved for the quality mark Qualicoat Class 1 and carry British Board of Agreement (BBA) Certificate No. 91/2704.

Base Metal, Surface Preparation & Coating Specification

Items should be zinc coated in accordance with BS EN 1461, EN 10142 or EN 10147, all spikes, dross and slivers should be avoided during processing and removed after galvanising where the appearance beneath the coating will be un-acceptable to the end user.

Steel quality will have a major influence upon the finish quality; silicon content for the steel should be within the range of 0.15 - 0.25%. High silicon steels may produce out gassing coating defects as pinholes or air bubbles trapped within the coating surface.

Component surface preparation; cleaning, chemical conversion and final rinsing & coating application meet the requirements of BS EN 13438 : 2005.

Surface conditioning / de-gassing will be at approximately 240°c, coating cure is carried out at 250°c for 20 minutes. The coating thickness will be typically 60 microns minimum on flat surfaces. On welded wire mesh products we achieve 100 microns minimum at the wire weld intersection and typically 150 microns as a mean coating thickness across the whole panel.
